Overview
Shinogi Sword Art Museum, located in Gomyo, Tokigawa Town, Hiki District, Saitama Prefecture, is a privately run art museum operated by Touken Shinogi, a Japanese sword specialty dealer founded in 1967. The museum occupies the second floor of the dealer's shop and is open to the public.
Permanent Exhibition
The approximately 363-square-meter exhibition space permanently displays about 30 Japanese swords forged from the Kamakura period through the end of the Edo period (Bakumatsu era), alongside related materials such as armor and old documents. The collection, curated through the dealer's long experience as a sword specialist, can be viewed free of charge. It is known as one of the few facilities in Saitama Prefecture with a permanent Japanese sword exhibition.
Operational Character
Because the museum is directly run by a sword dealer, visitors can go beyond simply viewing the exhibits — the shop's specialist staff are also available to provide explanations and consultation drawing on their professional expertise.
