Tokyo Fuji Art Museum

Tokyo Fuji Art Museum, opened in 1983 on the campus of Soka University in Hachioji, is one of Tokyo's largest comprehensive art museums with a collection of approximately 30,000 objects from cultures worldwide. Founded under the auspices of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda with a mission of international cultural exchange, it holds distinguished collections of European paintings, Chinese art, and Egyptian art alongside an exceptional Japanese sword collection. The Japanese weapons collection includes Important Cultural Property blades spanning all five major traditions from the Heian through Edo periods, complemented by outstanding sword fittings representing the finest Edo-period metalworking schools. Its international perspective makes it uniquely positioned to place Japanese swords within a global context of arms and armor.
