The Japanese Sword Preservation Society (NBTHK) includes shirogane-shi in its "Preservation Technique" certification program and provides support for successor development. However, in practice, the long training period required for mastery and income instability continue to present barriers to entry, making it difficult for younger generations to enter the field.
