Imagawa Ujiteru

Imagawa Ujiteru (1513–1536) was the tenth head of the Imagawa clan of Suruga Province. He inherited leadership at age fourteen after his father Imagawa Ujichika's death in 1526, with his mother Jukei-ni serving as regent during his early years. His decade of direct rule was characterized by stable administration—he carried out land surveys in Totomi Province, maintained the Suruga–Sagami alliance with the Hojo clan, and cultivated waka poetry. No major internal revolt was recorded during his tenure, and he consolidated the foundations his father had laid. He died suddenly at twenty-four on March 17, 1536; his brother Hikogoro died the same day under equally mysterious circumstances, sparking the Hanakura Disturbance, a succession conflict won by his younger brother Yoshimoto, who went on to lead the clan to its greatest heights.
