Osafune Kagemoto

Osafune Kagemoto was a swordsmith of Osafune in Bizen Province (present-day Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture) and one of the smiths of the Osafune school. His jigane is a neat, fine ko-itame with dense texture, and utsuri stands out clearly. His hamon is a lively work centered on gunome, mixed with ko-chōji and ko-midare, and its nioiguchi is bright and clear, showing the classic character of Osafune work.
