Description

Yuya Nakanishi (Nakanishi Yūya) is a contemporary swordsmith who runs the Masahiro Tantōjō (Masahiro forge) in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. Drawn to the beauty of Japanese swords as a child, he aspired to become a swordsmith while in junior high school. At age 20 he became an apprentice to a swordsmith in Fukushima and built his skills there. In 2014 he founded the Masahiro Tantōjō in Kameoka City. Alongside his production of Japanese swords, he also accepts members of the public for short-blade (kogatana) making experiences and works to pass on Japanese sword culture.
