川崎晶平
Description
Akihira Kawasaki is an accomplished contemporary swordsmith who carries the powerful Sōshū tradition—with its bold coarse nie and dramatic hamon—into the present day. Inheriting the large ara-nie, hitatsura-style hamon, and powerful blade forms characteristic of the Sōshū school, he realizes high-precision craftsmanship through modern materials and equipment. His jigane features broadly flowing itame with heavy, rough jinie, displaying the imposing character of the Sōshū tradition. His hamon—characteristically hitatsura or hakogakari in form—delivers a bold visual impact with thick nie. Through consistent participation in the New Sword Exhibition and similar events, he has earned high regard among contemporary smiths for his distinctive personal interpretation of the Sōshū tradition.
