Lineage and School
Hiromasa was a Sōshū smith of Sagami Province. The first generation is thought to have been active around the Enbun to Kōan eras (1356–1362), though most surviving works bear dates from the Bunan to Kyōtoku eras (1444–1455).
Style
He specialized in large hira-zukuri tantō with a broad mihaba, and the boshi sweeps with its tip slightly inclined forward. His hamon is a notare pattern emphasizing nie, and its combination with itame hada is distinctive.
Assessment
The Hiromasa name is said to have continued across several generations until around the Eishō era (1504–1521).
