Fujiwara Kanefusa XXVI

Fujiwara Kanefusa XXVI (26th generation) is a contemporary swordsmith based in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, and the latest bearer of the Kanefusa name. While remaining deeply rooted in the technical traditions of the Mino school, Kanefusa XXVI continues to make artistic and practical swords for sword enthusiasts of the Reiwa era. The jigane shows nagare-itame characteristic of the Mino tradition, with ji-nie evenly appearing, and the hamon shows an original expression in which gunome-midare typical of Seki blades is mixed with blade shapes that have a slightly pointed quality. Kanefusa XXVI works to convey the appeal of swords widely through activities such as public forging demonstrations and collaborative productions with anime works, and also took part in making the 'Tentetsutō' from meteoric iron.
