Mumon: The Land of Stealth

Mumon: The Land of Stealth (忍びの国, 2017), directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura and based on Ryo Wada's novel, is a jidaigeki ninja action film starring Satoshi Ohno as Mumon, a mercenary shinobi of Iga who will do anything for money. When Mumon kills a rival ninja for a bounty, the act sets off a chain of events culminating in the Tenshō Iga War, a brutal conflict between Oda Nobunaga's army and the ninja of Iga Province. The film is celebrated for its acrobatic, largely practical stuntwork — ninjas erupting from trees, rocks, and the ground itself in sequences that blend slapstick comedy with visceral violence rather than relying on CGI.
