The Apothecary Diaries is an anime series based on Natsu Hyūga's novels. The first season aired 24 episodes in total from October 22, 2023 to March 24, 2024, and the second season aired 24 episodes in total from January 10, 2025 to July 4, 2025. The series is produced by TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM. Norihiro Naganuma directed the series (for the second season, he serves as chief director, and Akinori Fudesaka is the director).

The setting is a fictional empire built with reference to ancient Chinese dynasties. The main stage is the inner palace (inner court), the rear palace where the emperor, consorts, and eunuchs interweave, and the story depicts complex court politics and human relationships.
