Overview
Touken Ranbu Pazugiri is a puzzle RPG launched as a new spin-off of Touken Ranbu ONLINE, the browser and smartphone game that began service in 2015. It is developed and operated by EXNOA LLC, with worldbuilding, scenarios, and character design handled by Nitroplus, and NHN PlayArt, known for puzzle games, participating in production. It is available on iOS, Android, and PC, and is free to play with item purchases.
Gameplay
Players form teams of Touken Danshi and face the enemy Togaki to save a world whose story has been altered. At the core of the game system is a puzzle action in which players trace over enemies of the same color to connect them and defeat them all at once. The key to progress is a team-building strategy that combines the abilities of the distinctive Touken Danshi.
From Announcement to Release
On January 14, 2026, the official title was announced during the 11th anniversary broadcast of Touken Ranbu ONLINE. Pre-registration opened on July 12 of the same year, and major game media outlets including Famitsu, 4Gamer, and Denfaminico Gamer reported on it simultaneously. Afterward, the release date was announced in a special program on September 20, and the game began distribution on September 24, 2026. Campaigns in which rewards increase depending on the number of pre-registrants, and campaigns for followers of the official X (formerly Twitter) account, are also being held.
Position in the Touken Ranbu Series
Touken Ranbu ONLINE has gained popularity with a setting in which players operate Touken Danshi, sword warriors personified from real swords, and fight the Time Retrograde Army, which seeks to alter history. Its spin-offs so far include the anime Katsugeki Touken Ranbu and the character series Wanpaku! Touken Ranbu, whose designs were handled by Sanrio. Pazugiri, the latest form of the series, is positioned as a work that presents new appeal of the Touken Danshi in the puzzle genre, which is easy to reach casual audiences. A notable feature is that DMM GAMES and Nitroplus, the team that supported the original Touken Ranbu ONLINE, continue to be involved.
