刀剣乱舞ぱずぎり
A new puzzle-RPG spin-off of Touken Ranbu ONLINE, where players field chibi-style sword-warrior characters and slash enemies by tracing color-matched chains. Pre-registration opened in July 2026, with launch planned within 2026.
Description
Touken Ranbu Pazugiri is a new puzzle-RPG spin-off of Touken Ranbu ONLINE, the browser and smartphone game that launched in 2015. It is developed and operated by EXNOA LLC, with worldbuilding, scenario, and character design handled by Nitroplus — the same production team behind the original Touken Ranbu ONLINE. The game is planned for iOS, Android, and PC, using a free-to-play model with in-app purchases.
Players take on the role of an "Emaki-mori" (scroll guardian) who fields a roster of chibi, deformed versions of the sword-warrior characters (Touken Danshi) to battle an enemy type called "Togaki." The core mechanic is a puzzle-action system in which the player traces and connects same-colored enemies with a finger to slash them down in a chain, with team composition built around each character's distinct abilities forming the key to strategy. An original story mode is also planned.
The game was formally unveiled with a key visual in a January 2026 4Gamer report. Pre-registration opened on July 12, 2026, drawing coverage from major Japanese gaming outlets including Famitsu, 4Gamer, and Denfaminico Gamer. A full 2026 release is planned, though as of this writing (July 2026) no specific launch date has been announced. Promotions tied to the pre-registration campaign include scaling post-launch login bonuses based on registration totals and a giveaway campaign for followers of the official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Within the broader Touken Ranbu franchise — known for personifying real historical Japanese swords as Touken Danshi characters who fight the time-traveling "Time Retrograde Army" to protect history — the series has already produced spin-offs such as the action game Katsugeki Touken Ranbu and the kids-oriented Wampaku! Touken Ranbu. Pazugiri represents the franchise's latest expansion into the casual-friendly puzzle genre, continuing under the same DMM GAMES / Nitroplus production lineage that has supported the original game since its debut.
