Overview

Highlander is a fantasy film directed by Russell Mulcahy and released in 1986. Christopher Lambert stars as the immortal warrior Connor MacLeod, with Sean Connery as his mentor Ramírez. Set against the premise that immortals who can only be killed by beheading must fight until only one remains, the story unfolds in 1985 New York, interwoven with flashbacks to 16th-century Scotland. Following its release, the film grew into a long-running franchise spanning multiple sequels and a television series.

Connor and Ramírez's Katana

A pivotal turning point in the story is the katana Connor inherits after the death of his mentor Ramírez. Once Ramírez is killed by his nemesis the Kurgan, Connor takes up the sword as his own, carrying it as his weapon of choice through centuries of subsequent battles.
