Overview
Hanyo no Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is a TV anime produced by Sunrise as an official sequel to Rumiko Takahashi's manga Inuyasha. It aired in two parts, "Act 1" from October 2020 and "Act 2" from October 2021 to March 2022, totaling 24 episodes. Teruo Sato directed, with series composition by Katsuyuki Sumisawa, character designs by Yoshihito Hishinuma and music by Kaoru Wada; Takahashi herself provided the main character concepts.
Setting
The story centers on Moroha, daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, and Towa and Setsuna, twin daughters of Sesshomaru. Placing the children of the original cast at the center, it explores the conflicts of being "hanyo" — half-demon, half-human — born between the two worlds.
Swords in the Story
The series carries forward the in-story lineage of swords from the original Inuyasha, such as Tessaiga (forged from the fang of Inuyasha's father, the Inu no Taisho) and Tenseiga, wielded by Sesshomaru, as the new generation of protagonists searches for its own weapons and powers.
